I’m quoted in an article about Portland’s municipal internet. Among other things, I say, “For me ubiquitous access means I don’t have to base my life around wherever my office is.”
I have been working from coffee shops and cafes since late 2001. Even though I’ve had an office for several years, hotspots around the city have still helped me stay connected. No doubt, WiFi has simplified my life.

That’s cool! Congrats. I think you just wanted to say “ubiquitous” ;-)
I wonder if MetroFi is going to be able to improve their service at all.

Excellent! Now if the AP would just include links in their content, those first two words could send some traffic your way…

Of course, EVDO works everywhere, even in your car (while someone else drives, of course).
Is it worth $80 a month? Probably, particularly now that Spring and Verizon are rolling out the faster Rev. A technology.
Is your WiFi access free everywhere?

Portland is working on rolling it out everywhere, but they’re a long way from that.
Despite all the problems, I applaud the initiative. The more free WiFi that’s available, the better.
